Working For: Local Trust

Location: London

Salary: £18,252 (London Living Wage)

Length of Contract:

Job Details

Local Trust is looking for two enthusiastic, versatile interns to work as part of a small high-powered team delivering Local Trust’s work, and in doing so help redefine future approaches to communities, public services, funding and place.

Set up in 2012 with an endowment from the Big Lottery Fund, Local Trust has committed £1m of funding to each of 150 communities across England, many of them areas that have significant challenges to overcome or that may have missed out on public and other funding in the past.

We don’t just provide funding. As the largest place-based funding programme in the UK, we look to share the evidence and learning from our work.  We aim to support innovative thinking and practice that helps increase understanding – in government, amongst other funders and within communities themselves – about how place-based investment can make a difference. Over the next five years, we will be increasing our investment in events, research and publications, contributing to a growing public debate about meeting the needs of communities and the growing role place.

You will be a recent graduate/post-graduate in (one or more of) urbanism, community development, housing, research methods and social stats or related subjects, have a strong understanding of and interest in some or all of the following issues: community development; social capital; micro-enterprise; localism; civic innovation; systems thinking at a local level; the future of public services. And (hopefully) be looking to change the world.

We'll provide you with a fantastic environment to learn and grow your understanding of the practical issues associated with supporting communities and investing in place.

If that sounds like something you'd love to be a part of, we’d be really excited to hear from you. The role is a six month fixed-term internship. But you’ll be able to achieve a lot in that time.
