The Post
The London Borough of Brent is looking to fill this exciting new Governance Manager post. This role, at the heart of Brent Council, is ideally suited to someone with experience of working in Democratic or Governance Services who shares our values and wants to help us continuously improve our services to residents, our Elected Members and the Council. An understanding and knowledge of how local government governance works is also essential.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with members and officers at all levels of the Council. You will need political acumen and have experience of providing advice on constitutional matters to senior officers and Councillors. You will be organised, flexible and positive and thrive on providing an excellent customer service. You will be proficient in the use of ICT, particularly Word and experience of Modern.gov software would be valuable.

The Person
The successful candidate will have:
• An honours degree or equivalent higher education qualification or equivalent experience gained within a related working environment.
• Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Understanding of the role of the civic head in a local authority.
• Understanding of the various roles carried out by elected members of a local authority.
