Job Details

Job number: SUPP103037.
Division/School: Research and Enterprise Development.
Contract type: Fixed-term contract staff.
Working pattern: Full-time.

PolicyBristol aims to enhance the influence and impact on policy and practice of research at the University of Bristol. We are seeking an excellent individual to help coordinate PolicyBristol’s programme of activities and publications that will significantly increase the status, impact and awareness of policy-relevant research at the University, with a focus on Engineering and the Physical Sciences. Target audiences include: international, national and local government; public sector; think tanks; industry and practitioner groups; the private sector; and the media.

The Coordinator’s responsibilities will include: developing policy briefing papers, supporting policy engagement activities, delivering training sessions, and overseeing online and social media activity. Alongside the Director and the wider PolicyBristol team, the role holder will also play a key part in formulating the strategy for PolicyBristol’s next three years.

PolicyBristol’s remit covers policy engagement and impact activities for all policy-relevant research across the University. This new role will be dedicated to working predominantly with EPSRC-funded researchers (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council), so a background in science and/or engineering would be desirable.

You should have excellent communications skills – both oral and written – and be able to assimilate and synthesise large amounts of complex information into accessible language suitable for different audiences. The Coordinator will liaise with academics and external stakeholders on a daily basis, so strong interpersonal skills are essential.

This position is full-time and is fixed term, with funding until 31st March 2020.

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
