Job Details

We are seeking to recruit a Public Affairs volunteer to work alongside The Children’s Society’s Policy and Public Affairs team to help ensure that our voice is heard by politicians and key decision makers.

The Public Affairs volunteer will support the running of a parliamentary inquiry into the impact of social media on children’s mental health.

It is important that the applicant has a passion for helping vulnerable children and young people and a keen interest in public policy, parliamentary work, influencing and campaigning.

Experience or understanding of working with Members of Parliament would be beneficial but not essential. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in a career in public affairs. It will offer an insight into a fastpaced and high profile team working with, and to influence, national and local government at different levels.

This is a 3-month volunteering opportunity beginning in April 2017.

For the role to be valuable, both for the volunteer and the project, we would suggest between 10–20 hours a week. However, we are flexible over the specific days and hours, and the start date. If you are interested in the role but are unsure about the time commitment and dates, please do contact us to discuss further.

You can find out more about this opportunity here: https://careers.childrenssociety.org.uk/volunteering/vacancy/office-volunteer---public-affairs-2419/2437/description/.

W4MP Note:
The role being advertised is a voluntary one. As such, there are no set hours and responsibilities and you should be free to come and go as you wish. If the post demands set hours and/or has a specific job description you may be deemed to be a ‘worker’ and be covered by National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage legislation.
