Job Details

Engineering needs to become more diverse.
We need you to help make that happen.

Part-time, 3 days per week – flexible hours.

We’re determined to make our industry as diverse as possible, so you will partner engineering employers, trade bodies and third sector organisations to champion initiatives across gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age and social mobility. Notably, you will take ownership of our flagship Higher Education Diversity Pilot Project and closely support the Head of Diversity with programmes not under your direct control, giving you considerable visibility and wide-ranging responsibilities.

We will look to you to design and deliver proposals, produce briefings, advise on equality and inclusion and produce support material, whilst representing us at conferences, events and meetings – so every day will bring different challenges. Above all, you will ensure effective and engaging communications via our website, newsletters, media releases and reports, demanding a very creative approach and expert knowledge of diversity issues. In particular, you will fully understand the employee lifecycle and employment practices, the barriers faced by underrepresented groups in engineering and STEM, and current and evolving legislation. Ideally you will possess a relevant formal qualification and some engineering background, and you will certainly be passionate about driving change, capable of delivering projects and able to bring real intellectual rigour to everything you do.

Engineering is at the heart of our nation and our future: transforming ideas and materials into global infrastructure, products and services that increase the wealth and health of our economy and society. As the UK’s national academy for engineering, we bring together the discipline’s finest minds to promote excellence and champion innovation.
