Job Details

Research and evaluation has been part of Toynbee Hall’s work and its identity, since the organisation was founded as a University Settlement. The philanthropist and social researcher Charles James Booth, for instance, led a group of Toynbee Hall residents and produced a well-known ‘poverty map’ that has a significant and lasting influence on social policy and research to date.

At Toynbee Hall, we continue to conduct research that gives our local community and those affected by poverty a voice. Our research has been focused on issues related to social inclusion and wellbeing. A small team of postdoctoral and postgraduate researchers (staff, interns and volunteers) have been carrying out studies on different subjects, such as poverty premium and poverty. We also conduct some evaluation for service teams at Toynbee Hall covering areas in advice, community services and learning.
