Lord Marland of Odstock is seeking an efficient PA with excellent communication and organisational skills to work at his private office in Pimlico for 3 days a week until 9 June and then 4 - 5 days a week thereafter.

The position is a temporary to permanent maternity leave cover contract.

The role’s duties include but are not limited to:
Providing a complete and efficient secretarial support to Lord Marland, on a personal basis and in the course of his business, charitable, political and parliamentary involvements
Arranging Lord Marland’s parliamentary diary including meetings with other Peers, government ministers and high-profile figures in the political arena
Dealing with and replying to all incoming correspondence for Lord Marland at the House of Lords
Occasional research to assist in preparation of speeches, reports or other matters for the House of Lords
Preparation of monthly House of Lords expenses
Liaising with other House of Lords departments with regards Lord Marland’s meetings with visiting dignitaries and ministers and related arrangements
Arranging tours of the House of Lords and parliament for Lord Marland's contacts, when required
Arranging Lord Marland’s diary in his capacity as Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC)
Composing and dealing with Lord Marland’s correspondence relating to CWEIC
Liaising with government ministers and their office both domestically and internationally with regards invitations and planning for CWEIC events
Extensive diary and travel organisation for Lord Marland
Management of rental properties and private household properties
Payment of bills, both company and private household
Monitoring company and personal bank accounts, both domestic and international
Taking shorthand dictation including emails, letters, speeches etc
Minute-taking
Producing monthly expense claims for Lord Marland’s various business involvements
Working autonomously and therefore, anticipating any work to be carried out

The successful candidate should:
Have fast shorthand (speedwriting is not acceptable)
Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (mainly Word and Excel) and Outlook Calendar and Contacts management
Be experienced in minute-taking
Possess excellent communication and organisational skills
Be self-motivating
