Job Details

About us
We regulate the UK’s nurses and midwives, the largest group of healthcare workers in the UK. We exist to protect the health and wellbeing of the public. We do this by maintaining the register of qualified nurses and midwives and by setting standards of education, training, conduct and performance. We make sure that nurses and midwives keep their skills and knowledge up to date through a regular revalidation process. If concerns are raised about the standards of a registered nurse or midwife, we have a duty to investigate and, where necessary, take action to protect the public.

About the role
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Parliamentary and Stakeholder Relations to join the NMC. In this newly created role, you’ll lead the NMC’s parliamentary, stakeholder and events functions; mapping, developing and maintaining our relationships with a complex and far-reaching mix of stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering an effective engagement strategy and for providing advice and support for senior leaders across the organisation.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a driven, self-motivated senior leader who is able to excel in a high pressure environment with multiple, competing priorities. You will have significant experience of leading stakeholder relations in a complex organisation; successfully managing engagement around controversial and complex issues with significant political sensitivities. You’ll have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the UK’s political and stakeholder landscape and have a proven track record of managing and inspiring teams to deliver high-profile, innovative parliamentary and stakeholder campaigns.

Any use of recruitment agencies for this vacancy, has been agreed prior to advertisement. We ask that agencies do not contact us in relation to this position.

The NMC is an employer that values the diversity of its workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

Registered Charity in England and Wales [1091434] and in Scotland [SC038362].

Closing Date: 5 April 2017
