We are looking for passionate, highly dynamic, talented individuals to join us and help us take forward our exciting range of policy and improvement programmes.

Improvement and development manager
Part-time: Flexible up to 3 days per week.
Salary: Up to £38,000 PA pro rata dependent on qualifications, skills and experience (fixed-term or secondment for 6 months with the possibility of extension).

This is a key role driving forward our work on a range of improvement and development programmes for our councils and county associations of local councils including the delivery the new National Improvement Strategy for Parish and Town Councils and initiatives such the Local Council Award Scheme.

Policy and projects officer
Salary: Up to £28,000 PA dependent on qualifications, skills and experience (fixed-term until 31 March 2018).

In addition to playing a lead role in delivering a £4.7m programme to enable our councils to enhance their on-line presence as well as co-ordinating our Diversity Commission you will also support national campaigns, prepare briefings and consultations and undertake research projects.

What we are looking for:
- understanding of local government, preferably with knowledge of the parish and town council sector
- a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, as well as commitment to our mission
- flexibility, determination and self-motivation, as well as first rate communication skills
- the capacity to work under pressure as part of a small team, and with a range of stakeholders at both local and national levels
- project management experience
- first-rate organisational skills, able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure

Interviews will take place at the NALC offices in Central London. Policy & projects officer position on 18 April 2017 and improvement & development manager position on 24 April 2017.
