Action on Hearing Loss
We help people confronting deafness, tinnitus and hearing loss to live the life they choose. We enable them to take control of their lives and remove the barriers in their way.

Role and responsibilities
Action on Hearing Loss is looking to recruit a Public Affairs Officer to help us deliver high quality, evidence based public affairs campaigns to ensure that we can live in a world where hearing loss doesn’t limit or label people, where tinnitus is silenced – and where people value and look after their hearing.

The post will sit within the Policy & Campaigns directorate which is responsible for influencing the Government, parliamentarians, policy makers, service providers, individuals and a wide range of other stakeholders to ensure that people with hearing loss do not face barriers in society and that the best possible support is available for them to help manage their condition.

The Public Affairs Officer will work to support the design and delivery of an integrated public affairs strategy ensuring that public policy is changed to help remove the barriers experienced by the 11 million people across the UK with hearing loss. The post holder will work across a number of topical policy areas, including health, social care, employment, transport, broadcasting, equality legislation and medical research. You will be responsible for project managing a number of parliamentary events and a programme of constituency visits – showcasing our services to parliamentarians in order to raise the profile of our cause and the Action on Hearing Loss brand. You will also utilise Action on Hearing Loss’s political monitoring service and produce reports and ad-hoc briefings to ensure key staff members are kept up to date on relevant parliamentary and political developments.

This is an exciting time to be joining our successful Policy and Campaigns directorate and help us work to ensure that the eleven million people with hearing loss, deafness and tinnitus can live the life they choose.

Closing Date: 21 April 2017

Interview/Start Dates

Interview date: 9th – 10th May (TBC).
