BACKGROUND
The US/Middle East Project was established in 1994 by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR New York) and became an independent policy institute in 2006. Its mission focuses on advancing an equitable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to work with decision-makers and civil society in the United States, in the region and in the broader international community to promote that goal as well as providing policy analysis and policy options across a range of Middle East issues to prevent conflict and promote stability, peace and economic growth in the region.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Providing administrative support, handling correspondence, scheduling, and responding to requests for information
• Coordinating events, including preparing invitations, travel arrangements, corresponding with speakers and presiders, helping to prepare background papers and materials for distribution, and providing other logistical support
• Researching specific areas for articles and other publications
• Overseeing the organization's database and outreach to network of contacts
• Reviewing and updating content on the USMEP’s website and social media
• Office management (including payment of invoices and bills; ordering stationary and office equipment as well as maintaining the office condition and arrange necessary repairs)
• Assisting with the drafting and proofreading of written material
• Coordinating with the USMEP’s New York office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Middle Eastern Studies, or related field, with high academic achievement.
• At least 1 year of related internship or administrative experience.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, familiarity with website maintenance is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to determine priorities and meet multiple deadlines.
• Good communicator – ability to deal by phone/in person with high-level governmental and political offices, funders and suppliers.
• Familiarity with the Israel-Palestine issue and the broader Middle East.
