Summary of role
• Plan and implement policy research projects in areas relevant to ACE activities;
• Monitor the Government landscape and produce policy documents in collaboration with colleagues;
• Manage and develop ACE policy communication strategy to promote ACE to relevant audiences;
• Coordinate ACE Sector Interest Groups including implementing Group outputs;
• Work with ACE senior management staff and key industry stakeholders in developing and delivering business enhancement services to members.
Responsibilities
• Support the Policy & External Affairs Director in the development and delivery of ACE policy;
• Plan and implement policy research projects in areas relevant to ACE activities;
• Identify and produce policy statements to cover ACE members’ business interests;
• Develop and implement ACE Policy Communication strategy including monitoring and evaluating success of activities;
• Identify and produce guidance notes on issues affecting ACE members’ business;
• Write submissions to consultations as required;
• Manage ACE Sector Interest Groups and co-ordinate Group outputs;
• Manage ACE engagement with relevant stakeholders;
• Work with ACE regional managers in support of regional activities.
Person specification
• A relevant degree or equivalent experience;
• At least five years' experience in public policy, parliament or public affairs;
• Sound knowledge of political, business issues and emerging trends;
• Knowledge of the consultancy and engineering business is desirable;
• Skills in formulating policy, developing and implementing new strategies and procedures;
• Excellent research, analytical and writing skills with an eye for detail;
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines;
• Ability to organise, prioritise and schedule work assignments;
• Ability to be flexible and work well as part of a team;
• Working knowledge of office support functions and relevant computer packages;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
