The Rail Delivery Group (RDG) exists to enable passenger and freight train operating companies and Network Rail to succeed by delivering better services for their customers – passengers and freight consignors – and thereby bring benefits to taxpayers and the UK economy.

We are currently seeking a Stakeholder Communications Officer who will support and monitor cross-organisational stakeholder engagement plans, supporting the Stakeholder Communications Manager in delivering against a broad range of internal and external stakeholders’ interests and expectations.

The Stakeholder Communications Officer will be accountable for the quality, credibility and professionalism of the service they provide. They will be expected to show initiative whilst planning, organising and prioritising their own work as part of the stakeholder function and broader communications function. It will be necessary for the Stakeholder Communications Officer to develop an understanding of the rail stakeholder landscape and key issues impacting RDG members.

Therefore, we are looking for someone with a minimum of two years’ experience working in a stakeholder communications, events or in a public affairs capacity; either in-house, within agency or within politics. Strong written and verbal communications skills are vital and an understanding of the rail stakeholder landscape, and knowledge of and interest in rail is desirable.

The ideal person will be:
Enthusiastic and creative, with good organisational skills, determination and stamina. They will need to be flexible and a team player with strong personal integrity, demonstrating initiative and a proactivity, bringing a systematic approach to their work and have a strong eye for accuracy and have high standards.

It is essential you can demonstrate experience or competence of:

  • an understanding of stakeholder communications and reputation management in support of corporate objectives.
  • a proven ability to plan, organise and deliver a complex and overlapping series of activities through the year, to a high standard.
  • strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and research skills, and the ability to prioritise work in a pressurised environment and meet deadlines

1 year fixed-term contract.
