The main aspects of this job are policy correspondence, some diary management, and general office management. Flexible working options are possible, to attract the right candidate; flexibility could include working part of the time from home.
The most important candidate attributes for this role are a very strong public service ethic, natural human empathy, faultless written English and an interest in public policy. The successful candidate also needs to be self-motivated, well organised and comfortable working as part of a dispersed team with colleagues based elsewhere.
The salary will be within the pay scale set by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority for a Senior Parliamentary Assistant, and according to experience.
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
