Job Details

About us
We regulate the UK’s nurses and midwives, the largest group of healthcare workers in the UK. We exist to protect the health and wellbeing of the public. We do this by maintaining the register of qualified nurses and midwives and by setting standards of education, training, conduct and performance. We make sure that nurses and midwives keep their skills and knowledge up to date through a regular revalidation process. If concerns are raised about the standards of a registered nurse or midwife, we have a duty to investigate and, where necessary, take action to protect the public.

About the role
We are looking for a talented Parliamentary and Stakeholder Manager with a strong track record in effectively engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders. You will understand how to operate in the UK political context and ensure NMC’s engagement activity helps to meet our objectives to protect the public. You’ll be skilled at providing senior leaders with advice on developing and maintaining strategic relationships and managing intelligence and monitoring systems. You will manage a small team as part of a dynamic communications department.

About you
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to broaden their experience in public affairs and develop management skills.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be self-motivated and able to excel in a high pressure environment with multiple, competing priorities. You will be able to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels and be able to navigate a complex organisation. You will have experience of working with political stakeholders, and with external partners towards strategic objectives. You will be able to interpret policy developments and use political intelligence to oversee the development of effective parliamentary and stakeholder engagement strategies.

Previous experience of line management or experience working in the regulatory, healthcare or social policy fields is desirable, but not essential.

The NMC is an employer that values the diversity of its workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

Registered Charity in England and Wales [1091434] and in Scotland [SC038362].

Closing Date: 18 May 2017
