A rare opportunity has arisen to join Stella Creasy's constituency team as a senior caseworker. Based primarily in the constituency office in Walthamstow in East London, this job is for someone who wants to change lives by being part of a dynamic group of people passionate about social justice and determined only the best will do for Walthamstow. The successful applicant will support the MP working on a wide range of issues and in providing a first class advice service to the people of Walthamstow. 

Duties will include:

  • Liaising with various agencies and organisations to resolve constituents' problems and prevent them happening again.
  • Dealing with correspondence, telephone enquiries and emails and providing timely responses.
  • Attending surgeries and other meetings and taking notes.
  • Helping develop and support relationships with community groups, statutory services and voluntary organisations as part of campaigning activities with the MP.
  • Developing policy and local knowledge to help support the MP to undertake her duties.
  • Managing financial and administrative matters for the office including the IPSA parliamentary expenses scheme. 

Skills required

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of accounting and financial management systems. 
  • Ability to prioritise, manage own workload and project management skills.
  • Good IT skills – knowledge of and use of casework and customer relationship management databases be helpful.
  • Good customer service skills - ability to deal with constituents and community interest groups in a helpful and sympathetic manner.
  • Able to work well individually and as part of a team - willingness to share cake and make cups of tea will be welcomed.
  • Experience of advising on subjects such as housing, welfare benefits or immigration issues or community development work would be beneficial.

Please note this role may entail evening and weekend activities within the constituency and/or at Westminster.
