Location: London

Salary: Up to £29,000 in line with IPSA payscales

Length of Contract:

Job Details

This is a unique opportunity to join an active and dynamic office which is committed to achieving progressive political outcomes at both a local and national level. Working in both Walthamstow and Westminster with equal conviction, this is a job focused on making progressive change happen.

Applicants should enjoy critical thinking, pitching stories and campaign ideas and challenging assumptions. They must be able to do research without relying on Wikipedia alone, and write compelling text in short sentences. As well as assisting Stella and her team with a wide range of projects as required, the person in this role will be tasked with producing videos, managing websites and creating online and offline content that wins arguments. A team player, the successful candidate will be someone who wants to get involved in campaigns, help out with casework and generally contribute to the work of a team of people passionate about the potential of others in their community and their country.

Some evening and weekend work will be required as part of this role, but will always be appreciated. Shortlisting will be done on the evidence provided by applicants of how they could match - or intend to match - the description of the ideal candidate above. In doing so, they will show how they have made change happen, worked with others of any age or background to do that and how they stand out in a crowd. Careful attention to detail in this role is a must, as is an openness to learning new ways of working and dogged determination to get things done - bystanders and people who overuse hashtags need not apply.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Closing Date: 23 June 2017

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place on 27th June in the House of Commons so you must be available for interview on that date. The cost of travel to the location will be paid.

Application Details

Applicants should send a copy of their CV and a statement of no more than 600 words about why they are the right person for this job and to join Stella's team to jobs@workingforwalthamstow.org.uk. Please note the MP will not be involved in the shortlisting process and anyone contacting her about this role will be automatically discounted from selection. All those who are shorlisted will be given full feedback on their application. Therefore if you do not hear from Stella's office please assume your application has not been taken forward to shortlisting.
