Job Title: Parliamentary Researcher or Senior Parliamentary Researcher

Working for Monica Lennon MSP for Central Scotland in the Scottish Parliament with requirement to work and travel within parliamentary region when needed.

This is an opportunity to join a proactive and dynamic office working for an MSP who is committed to making progressive change happen at a national and local level.

If you are a forensic researcher who can pitch stories and campaign ideas and will take an enthusiastic approach to helping with casework and the wide spectrum of tasks and issues that crop up daily, then read on. You will apply your passion, knowledge and experience of the Scottish Parliament and current political landscape to supporting Monica with her duties. You should share her determination to go the extra mile for her constituents and have a genuine passion and interest in the campaigns and causes she champions.

It is critical that you can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment and provide evidence to back this up. The team is small so you must be able to muck in and play a full part in getting through a challenging workload, creating opportunities and coping with all the unexpected issues that will arise. Careful attention to detail is essential, as is patience and persistence to deal with barriers to getting information.

As well as working with Monica and the team on a wide range of projects as required, the person in this role will have excellent IT, web and digital skills, demonstrable administration and organisational skills, and be able to work to deadline and communicate confidently.

Some evening and weekend work will be required as part of this role. Shortlisting will be done on the evidence provided by applicants of how they could match the description of the ideal candidate above, having regard for the type of work Monica is involved in. It’s important that you show how you have made change happen, worked with others to do that and how you would make a positive difference to Monica’s work.

Closing Date: 29 June 2017
