Overview
A busy office is seeking a diligent Senior Parliamentary Assistant/Office Manager to join our small but dedicated team. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and work closely with Jeremy’s constituency office to ensure that the team continues to provide a very high level of service to the constituents it serves.

Skills
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with exceptional research skills and excellent attention to detail. They will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a large caseload, together with common sense, sound judgment, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on their own initiative. Discretion is essential. We are a small team and flexibility, a ‘can do’ attitude and a sense of humour are a must. The vast majority of our work is computer based and so strong IT skills are required. We are a forward thinking office and the ideal candidate will contribute to continual enhancement of the services we offer. Previous Parliamentary experience is highly desired and we are looking for someone who can ‘hit the ground running’. Experience outside Parliament is also valued.

Key Tasks
• Undertake research on complex subjects
• Research local, regional or national issues to support the MPs work
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the MP is accurately informed on key issues
• Lead on projects as required
• Closely monitor proceedings in Parliament
• Advise the MP on policy issues
• Deal with complex queries on behalf of the MP
• Respond to correspondence and enquiries from constituents, the media, lobbyists and pressure groups
• Draft press articles and statements
• Responsible for managing the budget, in consultation with Jeremy’s senior assistant, and keeping the Member informed of all relevant financial matters
• Work alongside Jeremy’s ministerial and constituency teams to assist with managing his diary commitments
• Provide efficient secretarial and administrative support to the MP in Westminster
• Keep excellent records on our Casework system
• Ensure all records are kept and information managed in line with the Data Protection Act

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interview/Start Dates
