Job Details

League Against Cruel Sports
Established in 1924, the League is Britain's leading charity working to stop animals being persecuted, abused and killed for sport. The League was instrumental in helping bring about the landmark Hunting Act. We manage sanctuaries to protect wildlife, carry out investigations to expose law-breaking and cruelty to animals, and campaign for stronger animal protection laws and penalties.

We work to change attitudes and behaviour through education, fact-based videos, scientific reports and public engagement events.

This is an exciting time for the League. Our Votes for Vinny campaign struck a chord with the public and made sure that Fox Hunting was a key issue of the general election campaign. Building on the momentum generated by the general election and the overwhelming support voiced in support of the League’s mission, we are seeking to appoint a Head of Campaigns that can help take us to the next level.

The position
You will develop, deliver and measure effective campaign strategies to retain, extend and strengthen the Hunting Act; ban snares; expose the cruel and destructive nature of the UK's shooting industry and bring in tougher sentences and a national register for dogfighters

You will use campaigns to engage and recruit new members and supporters in order to further extend the League’s influence and engage and mobilise other key stakeholders as appropriate, including partner NGOs.

You will be an inspiring, engaging and credible spokesperson for the League, mobilising League members and supporters to maximise impact on policy-makers and media.

You will ensure supporter journeys from Campaigners to becoming Members and Donors are streamlined and optimises the development of campaigners to givers.

Requirements
• Strong robust experience of developing and managing campaigns strategies that have achieved change.
• Strong understanding of how to integrate public campaigns into a political policy agenda.
• Experience in dealing with the media and political bodies.
• A sophisticated strategic understanding of how advocacy can change public perceptions and attitudes.
• Proven line management experience.

Closing Date: 28 August 2017

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place the week commencing 4th September 2017.
