Unlock Democracy campaigns for a vibrant, inclusive democracy that puts power in the hands of the people. We are a grassroots organisation, owned and run by our members. We are seeking an enthusiastic graduate with a passion for politics and familiarity with the UK political environment to join our team.

The successful candidate will have good research and writing skills to assist with the important task of developing our policies. As part of the role you will undertake research on a wide range of policy areas relating to our campaigns. This is a particularly exciting time to join our team, as our ‘Democratic Brexit’ campaign is swinging into full motion. We want to grow as a campaigning force and you will contribute by helping us to build a strong evidence and policy base so we can fulfil that mission.

You will get the chance to develop a wide range of skills, and as part of a small and agile team you will also have the opportunity to support the development of our campaigns and membership. If you have some policy and research experience and a passion for political change then we would love to hear from you.

ROLE
As the Campaigns & Policy Intern, you will:

• Undertake desk research in a wide range of policy areas, which will include analysing reports, government white papers, and debates in parliament
• Produce clear and concise briefings
• Write blogs for Unlock Democracy’s website
• Lead on daily media and political monitoring
• Support our engagement with parliamentarians, including updating our database of political contacts, profiling MPs and peers, and organising meetings
• Create campaigns related content, such as website copy, supporter emails, and social media posts
• Support on some administrative tasks, including data entry and responding to supporter and members’ queries
