Job Details

The Advertising Standards Authority is the independent, self-regulatory body for advertising in the UK and works to ensure that advertisements are legal, decent, honest and truthful. Our work includes acting on and investigating complaints as well as proactively monitoring and taking action against misleading, harmful or offensive advertisements, sales promotions and direct marketing.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic Public Affairs Adviser to be our working level contact for government officials and public affairs stakeholders. Operating in a fast-moving media, regulatory and political landscape, you will be a highly motivated individual, comfortable working in a diverse and challenging role involving public affairs work. With continued political interest surrounding topics including the advertising regulation of food and drink, broadband, gambling, gender stereotyping, and social influencers, you will be responsible for briefing and providing information to UK government officials and politicians on how we discharge our functions in the public interest, play a key part in identifying political touchpoints and risks, and shape our public policy engagement. You will provide oral and written advocacy for the advertising self-regulatory approach, provide public affairs insight and advice to the ASA’s senior management team and help advance our work in the devolved nations.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate your ability to learn quickly, work autonomously and find creative solutions to work related challenges. You must have an ability to collaborate effectively and develop strong relationships with colleagues and customers alike. Good written and oral communications is essential.
