Job Details

About us
The LGA is the national voice of local government. We work with councils to support, promote and improve local government.

We are a politically-led, cross-party organisation that works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government. We aim to influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils so they are able to deliver local solutions to national problems. The LGA provides a range of practical support to enable councils to exploit the opportunities that the new approach of ‘sector-led improvement’ provides. There has never been a more exciting time to work for us.

The role
The LGA is seeking to appoint a Head of Productivity with experience of local government at a senior, strategic level.

The Productivity Team delivers a range of programmes aimed to help improve productivity and efficiency in councils through delivering savings, generating income and making better use of assets. The team leads on areas such as demand management, procurement, commercialism and digital transformation.

The requirements
A strong and varied record of achievement at a senior level in complex political environments; a deep understanding of local government including the policy, financial and improvement agenda and significant senior level experience of building and maintaining strategic relationships.

You will be confident and credible in working with leading members, chief executives and senior officers and be able to deliver and lead your team under pressure with competing pressures.

We value diversity and encourage applications from all sections of the community
