Former MEP, and recently elected Member of Parliament for Chelmsford, Vicky Ford is looking for a highly motivated, organised, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join her team.
The role will include managing her very busy parliamentary and constituency diaries and supporting her out and about in the constituency.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
Initially be responsible for the constituency diary and progress on to managing the parliamentary diary
Manage constituency press enquiries, both reactive and proactive press management
Prepare draft press releases and drafts of regular updates for local media for the Member of Parliament to approve
Maintain stakeholder management system to ensure effective dialogue
Organise and attend constituency events with the Member of Parliament and coordinate the follow up activity required after the constituency events
Take digital photographs and videos for use on website, social media etc
Prepare draft letters on local issues as required
Assist with management of constituency correspondence from interest groups, stakeholders and community groups/organisations
Assist with general office tasks, including answering telephone, updating spreadsheets and other administrative tasks that may be required from time to time
The role is based in Westminster or Chelmsford as required.
Person Specification
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and confidence in interacting with people at all levels
Extremely organised and able to prioritise a demanding workload to meet deadlines given
Able to deal with sensitive issues in a confidential manner
Able to work effectively either in a small team or individually
Competent use of IT including proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Outlook and web management tools
Able to deal with high volumes of correspondence and other workload
Experience of working and dealing with the general public and confident at speaking to people at all levels
Experience working for an MP or equivalent is essential
Sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Conservative Party
Full training will be given where appropriate.
