I am looking for an energetic, well-organised person who has experience working in Westminster, to work in my Parliamentary Office.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and conscientious individual with excellent communications skills, with experience and a good knowledge of the political process (including a commitment to Labour values).

The role is ideally full-time but part-time may be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for all aspects of Teresa's Parliamentary work
  • Prepare and present briefing notes for speeches, committees, and debates
  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc
  • Undertake research and give advice on policy issues
  • developing media material and drafting press releases, articles and comments
  • Monitor media coverage including social media, ability to draft a press release
  • Management of parliamentary diary and incoming correspondence

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in a similar role
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent written skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated including ability to work with little supervision
  • Have the ability to learn quickly and to adapt to changing workload
  • Good working knowledge of standard office practices and computer packages such as MS Office and social media
  • A Confident telephone manner
  • Political sensitivity and understanding of current political issues, and sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Labour Party
  • Knowledge of Caseworker.mp database system would be an advantage

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
