Job Details

Why work for us?
CARE is committed to achieving greater gender equality through its global programming and policy work across the world. The 2018 Suffrage centenary in the UK offers a unique opportunity to make progress on some of the longstanding barriers to women's leadership in politics and public life. There will be unprecedented media attention, book launches, reports and public action. CARE's annual gender equality campaign - #March4Women - will put the spotlight on violence and harassment in the workplace, including gender-based political violence. We need an intern who can help us make the most of this opportunity and ensure that it has a forward-looking, action-orientated agenda with an international lens, rather than simply a historical look back at the UK context.

About you
You will be passionate about gender justice, ideally with some relevant campaigning or lobbying experience. You will have a good academic grasp of the issues, excellent organisational skills, and be a confident communicator - happy to pick up the phone as well as having strong written skills and some social media experience. You will be comfortable working in a fast paced and ever changing environment.

About the role
You will support the team to achieve its #March4Women policy goals as well as providing some support to the teams other priority areas of women's economic empowerment and gender in emergencies. You will help with workshops, producing policy briefings, dissemination of reports (and help with some team admin).

We provide our interns with a varied and insightful experience which will help position them for future career opportunities. You will gain invaluable experience of working for a large INGO.

About CARE
CARE International is one of the world's leading humanitarian and development charities. We fight poverty and injustice in the world's most vulnerable places. We save lives in disasters and conflicts. We stand with women, girls and their communities to achieve lasting change for a better future.

Candidates successfully shortlisted will be contacted for interview, and put into an intern pool. One candidate will be offered the post, but pooled candidates could be offered future opportunities over the coming six months if positions become available.

Closing Date: 30 October 2017
