Full-time, fixed term contract until 30 June 2019 with prospect of renewal after that date for at least a further year.

An exciting role designed to build on the success of the Liberal Democrats in St Albans, in the county council elections and in the General Election, where we were a target seat and overtook Labour to become the indisputable challengers to the Conservatives. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your campaigning skills and build a track record of success in one of the most promising areas for the party across the country.

1. Key Tasks a. Provide support to St Albans Liberal Democrats for both local and general elections b. Develop St Albans Liberal Democrats’ volunteer base, including supporting the recruitment, retention and upskilling of volunteers c. Co-ordination and production of St Albans campaign literature, including artwork d. Managing and developing the use of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms to ensure a high profile.

2. Essential requirements: a. Experience of mobilising volunteers and building good relationships b. Evidence of previous successful, effective communication activities c. Excellent organisational and time management skills d. Excellent computer skills with an advanced, up-to-date knowledge of social media and Microsoft Office e. A self starter, able to work independently or as part of a team as needed without significant supervision f. Motivated to promote and deliver the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.

3. It would be desirable if the candidate had some experience of training others, particularly in the use of Connect, election campaigns and general campaigning.

4. This post would ideally suit a candidate looking to develop their campaigning and organisational skills. Additional training can be provided if required. For candidates with strong transferable skills, training can be provided on the specific software and systems used by the party.

Interviews are likely to be on Saturday 18 November in our offices at 9 Hatfield Road, St Albans AL1 3RR. Reasonable travel expenses of interviewees will be reimbursed.
