About the role
A key member of the Parliamentary, Government and Stakeholder Engagement (PGSE) team, this is a prominent and essential role within CQC’s Engagement Directorate.

The Senior Communications Officer will lead and deliver consistent planning, and messaging, for CQC’s external communications activities. Through management of our long term communications planning grid and by working closely with colleagues across the directorate and researching the external environment, this role will ensure our work and findings reach the right audiences at the right time.

The postholder will manage delivery of the PGSE team’s insight programme to ensure we are capturing insight from our audiences effectively and using the outputs to inform CQC’s future engagement and communications activity. The Senior Communications Officer will also support the Planning and Speechwriting Manager to prepare presentations and speeches for senior CQC staff, commissioning and researching content and designing slides. Designed for external speaker engagements, these presentations communicate our work and findings in an engaging fashion, tailored to the audience and speech in question.

About you
As Senior Communications Officer, you will be highly effective at building relationships, both internally and externally, with strong influencing skills and the confidence and ability to work with colleagues at all levels of the organisation. You will be persuasive, organised and skilled at clear planning in an ever-changing environment. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills along with experience of developing and communicating messages in a complex regulatory environment. A good understanding of the health and social care environment is key. Good knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel are essential and a sense of design and editing is preferable.
