The Magistrates Association is recruiting a Policy and Research Officer to play a central role in the delivery of our policy work.

The Magistrates Association is a national charity with a mission to provide a voice for magistrates. Our policy work engages key stakeholders from across the justice system and charitable sector, covering a wide range of issues such as the provision of legal advice, the digitisation of courts, BAME disproportionality in the criminal justice system, and diversity within the judiciary.

The MA is looking for a dynamic individual to play a pivotal role in our policy work, working with our policy committees to develop the MA’s policy positions and ensure that the MA continues to inform and influence the policy agenda.

This role requires the ability to assimilate and understand complex information quickly and explain complex issues clearly. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and strong attention to detail are essential, as is knowledge of the criminal or family justice system.
