Job Details

We are the RNLI. For almost 200 years we’ve been dedicated to drowning prevention. Around the UK and Ireland, we are as committed as ever to saving lives at sea, and now we’re taking action to tackle drowning internationally.

Globally, drowning is a ‘silent epidemic’, responsible for over 360,000 lost lives each year - equivalent to more deaths than malnutrition or maternal mortality. In many countries, from Vietnam to Bangladesh, drowning is the leading cause of child mortality. But drowning prevention goes unrecognised and under-resourced; lacking global champions and crowded out of the political space. We can change that with your help.

You are exceptional. You understand policy change and you know how to make it happen. You’ve helped to deliver high-impact advocacy campaigns and built relationships that deliver results; with in-country partners and high-political officials. You’re excited at the prospect of positioning drowning on the agenda, as an enabler and insurance for Global Goal progress.

Together, we’ll save lives. We’ll shape and implement the RNLI’s ‘Safer World’ programme, to see drowning recognised and resourced as a global policy priority. We’ll advocate at the highest international levels, mobilising action across existing, and new, strategic partners. We’ll help to develop the confidence and capacity of credible and authentic champions for drowning prevention. And crucially, we’ll be a leader in ending the ‘silent epidemic’ of global drowning.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea.
Registered in England and Wales (209603) and Scotland (SC037736).
Registered charity number 20003326 in the Republic of Ireland.
