This is a new post which will work with academics and researchers across UCL to identify priority areas and develop strategies for engaging academic research and expertise with policy challenges related to the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union.

In particular, the post holder will work closely with the UCL Brexit and Beyond Group, which supports UCL's academic-policy engagement, and other academic-based external engagement around Brexit. The post supports the development of key strategic policy and external engagement opportunities identified by the BAB group; curates existing expertise and knowledge, ongoing engagement, and research activity, achievements and impact; and works with academics to communicate their research and engage with external stakeholders. The role is responsible for maintaining knowledge of the external policy landscape; developing effective networks; and evaluating and reporting on activities, outputs and outcomes. The post holder is also expected to undertake their own research on topics of interest relating to European politics, specifically Brexit.

The position represents an opportunity to bring research, knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement skills to a highly topical challenge, to build the profile of UCL research with relevance for the Brexit negotiations and policy needs after Brexit, and to enhance the policy impact of UCL research.

Key Requirements

The post holder will be an individual with:

  • a good knowledge of the public policy landscape, including university or science policy;
  • strong research skills;
  • experience of knowledge exchange or stakeholder engagement in public policy;
  • strong communication skills;
  • an aptitude for developing effective relationships;
  • an ability to manage multiple projects across multiple knowledge areas.
