Job Details

International Service are offering fully-funded volunteer work placements for 10-12 weeks in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Rwanda and Malawi as part of the International Citizen Service (ICS) programme.

ICS isn't a holiday. It's demanding but hugely rewarding. It's a great opportunity for personal development, a stepping stone to future careers and a chance to make your world a better place.

ICS is a development programme that brings together young people from the UK and developing countries to volunteer in some of the poorest communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. It is a once-in-a-lifetime volunteering opportunity open to all 18-25 year olds regardless of background, income, qualifications, disability and work experience.

Many of the skills you gain are transferable to employment, so you'll be able to demonstrate with real world examples how you dealt with things like reporting and evaluation, crisis and conflict management, and solving problems with creative thinking.

There is a fundraising target of £800. Our dedicated fundraising officer will support you on a 1:1 basis to reach the target before you depart.

What’s in it for you?

It won’t cost you a penny - your flights, visas, vaccines, training, food, medical insurance and accommodation are all covered.

You’ll have a completely unique experience - 10-12 weeks living with a host family, experiencing a new culture and working with local volunteers. You’ll be part of the community.

You’ll be more employable as a result - you’ll gain teamwork, leadership and communication skills, which will make you stand out, and better prepare you for whichever career you choose.

We are currently recruiting for April 2018 departures.

W4MP Note:
The role being advertised is a voluntary one. As such, there are no set hours and responsibilities and you should be free to come and go as you wish.
