Apolitical is looking for a reporter to write about some of the most interesting ideas in the world.
Apolitical is a global platform for public servants, publishing articles about how to tackle the biggest social problems of our time and connecting the people who’re working on them. Our stories have reached tens of millions of people and been picked up or republished by places like the Guardian, Quartz, Fast Company, the Huffington Post and many others. They have also been translated into Spanish, Japanese, Chinese and Hebrew for syndication elsewhere.
We work with the UK Cabinet Office, the EU, the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and public servants in more than a hundred countries.
Every day, you will be learning about the most groundbreaking work being done in governments around the world, and spreading those ideas by writing about them. You will also learn how government works, talk to impressive people and get a crash course in how to get things done in public life.
You will be part of an energetic, ambitious team that wants to build a company with tremendous reach – and use that power for good.
What we need from you is:
– Journalistic experience. The more the better.
– The ability to quickly understand complex projects and concepts. You might be writing about hydrogen cars in Norway or urban regeneration in Canada. You need to be able to quickly grasp what these projects are doing and isolate what makes them unique.
– The ability to write in a way that is clean and clear.
We would also like it if:
– You already had some knowledge about government or the public sector, perhaps by studying PPE or doing a master’s in public policy. But this isn’t essential as long as you’re interested in them.
Our work style
Apolitical values hard and smart work, whilst having fun along the way, and respects and supports people’s lives outside of work. We are a highly flexible and supportive workplace — location, hours, holidays — asking team members to consider the needs and deadlines of the team. We are committed to building a company that is great for the world and great for the people who work with us.
Start Date: Immediate.
We may appoint before the close date.
Please send a CV and covering letter of no more than 1 page explaining your motivations and aspirations for applying to the role to alex.starritt@apolitical.co.
