Job Details

We are looking for an experienced individual to join us as Board Support Officer, supporting the Board of Trustees by providing a mix of administrative support and project management.

The Chief Executive’s Office sits at the apex of the organisation, and as such, is frequently the first point of contact for numerous individuals and organisations, both national and international. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Board Support Officer you will act as a focal point for all Board matters internally and externally, liaising with colleagues across the organisation and trustees themselves on a regular basis. You will ensure the smooth running of quarterly Board of Trustee meetings, commissioning and circulating papers, taking minutes, chasing actions and managing all logistical arrangements. In addition you will:

• Provide administrative support to specific projects
• Work with the Communications Manager to manage trustee stewardship, including high quality onboarding and offboarding, regular trustee communications and any trustee programme visits
• Ensure papers and presentations for Board meetings are high quality and fit for purpose
• Work with the HR and Legal teams on any training compliance and governance matters
• Proactively seek ways to improve trustee experience

To be successful you will have experience of high level administrative support and project management with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Self-motivated and proactive, you will have the ability to work on your own initiative with little supervision and the ability to work under pressure. You will also have:

• Good analytical skills with the ability to identify key points from complex materials or information
• High computer literacy and confidence with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
• The ability to effectively create good working relationships with staff members at all levels
• A high degree of flexibility and adaptability
• Discretion in dealing with confidential information
