RCN London Region Office, 17.5 hours per week. Permanent contract.

The Communications Officer will work to ensure our members and other important audiences in the London Region are informed about and engaged with the RCN’s work. Our audiences include RCN members, the media, politicians and the wider public.

Supporting the Communications Manager in the London region, you will focus on the delivery and development of member, internal and stakeholder communications, services and products. Our aim is to position the RCN as the authoritative voice of nursing through locally promoting our activities, campaigns and achievements.

There is excellent potential to develop your skills as the duties range from sourcing, writing and editing content for member communications through to assisting in the research, writing and distribution of news releases and internal briefings. You will also proactively identify new opportunities for the RCN to support the interests of our members and nursing.

You will already have experience in a communications role including knowledge of PR and marketing activities. A self-starter, you will have an eye for detail and an interest in healthcare, news and current affairs.

You will also have excellent research and writing skills and be able to present often complex information in way that meets the needs of the audience. You will also be able to look at data and spot a story or trend that can be used in the media or to inform internal and external operations.
