Job Details

As Lumos expands globally, we need a range of skilled professionals to work in our diverse and international team to champion the rights of all children to grow up within a loving family. We are now looking for a motivated individual to play a key role in our Global Advocacy Team.

Full-time, permanent.
Central London (New Office Location TBC) or Brussels.
Approximately 10-25% regional (and possibly international) travel dependent on program requirements.

The Senior Advisor will play a leading role in building support and influencing policy to develop and deliver Lumos’ global voluntourism, anti-trafficking and modern slavery strategy. Working closely with the Global Advocacy Director you will seek commitments and deliver policy change, across sectors and at an international and national level, to pivot resource and influence from orphanage institutions to family and community based services. Stakeholders will include a range of state and non-state actors including EU and UN agencies, faith-based organisations, private foundations and corporates.

Through targeted strategies, including the delivery and dissemination of thought leadership, guidance on divesting from the ‘orphanage business’, behavioural change campaigns and building a network of pilot countries, you will build relationships at the highest level to create a network of advocates to inspire, influence and achieve real change to end the institutionalisation of children by 2050.

With an entrepreneurial mind-set and demonstrable knowledge of the relationships and legal frameworks between orphanages, volunteering, trafficking and modern slaver, you will have substantial experience of advocating and campaigning for international change and a deep contextual understanding of the mechanics of successfully influencing change with individual stakeholders, as well as large organisations, such as the EU or UN.

Lumos is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the DBS.
Lumos is an equal opportunities employer.

All applicants must have an existing right to work in the UK.

Closing Date: 7 January 2018
