The role

Newington’s Graduate Programme provides an exciting opportunity to jump-start a career in political and corporate communications, working closely from day one with a varied set of clients ranging from challenger firms through to big FTSE-listed brands insectors including education, energy and environment, financial services, health, housing, justice and legal services, and transport.

Based in London, you will be an essential part of a first-class team drawn from politics, policy and the media, and part of an ambitious company with a supportive and collaborative culture. We will provide feedback on all work, training throughout your career as well as regular reviews to agree and discuss your career objectives. Through on-the-job and formal training, you will benefit from a focus on leadership skills, analytical thinking and problem solving, effective written and oral communications, understanding business, and creativity. Courses include ‘Persuading and Influencing’, ‘Project Management’, ‘Developing Effective Strategies’ and ‘Powerful Presentations’.

What we are looking for

Like all of our consultants, you must be a problem solver, take pride in your work, be approachable and fun, and have a ‘can do’ attitude. In addition, successful candidates will have/be:

• Graduate level or equivalent
• Knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, business, politics and the media
• Some experience working in the fields of politics, campaigning, policy or communications
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills
• Strong research and organisational skills
• Professional eye for detail
• Ability to think clearly, rise to challenges and work as part of a team as well as under your own initiative
