Electrical Safety First is the UK’s leading charity on electrical safety. We want to make sure that everyone in the UK can use electricity safely.

We campaign on issues such as preventing fires caused by electricity, older people's safety, safer housing, product recall/registration and reducing the numbers of counterfeit electrical goods being sold online. We work with politicians to ensure that the UK Government and devolved administrations are doing all they can to keep people safe from electrical accidents, injuries and deaths. 

Your role will be to assist the Public Affairs Manager and team with implementation of the Westminster and devolved administration workplans, with special focus on the UK Government, Parliament and the Welsh Assembly.

Key Duties include: - 

• To assist the Public Affairs Manager with implementation of strategies for a) UK Government and Westminster MPs and Peers and b) Welsh Government and Welsh Assembly Members.
• Assisting with engagement work with the UK Government, MPs, Welsh Assembly Members and if required, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
• Administer the All Party Parliamentary Group on Home Electrical Safety working closely with the office of Carolyn Harris MP (Chair).
• Research statistics and help define policy positions.
• Help organise Parliamentary events, such as the Annual Parliamentary Reception; Welsh Assembly events; Party Conference appearances, LGA Annual Conference, events with MPs in their constituency etc.
• Organise mailings and email updates for MPs and their offices.
• Maintain a database of political supporters.
• Support the Public Affairs Manager and Senior Management at meetings with politicians and government.
• Key role in monitoring political publications, Parliamentary Hansard and National Assembly for Wales proceedings.
• Undertake other duties to help support the Public Affairs team with their work throughout the UK and EU.
• Undertake other duties as instructed by the Senior Management team.
