David Rutley is looking to appoint a Parliamentary Assistant to join his small team.  The ideal candidate will have experience of working in Parliament and should be highly motivated, reliable, organised and able to work to deadlines.

Consideration may be given to working from the Constituency.

Key responsibilities:

Liaise with government departments and agencies on policy issues and personally draft and manage all related correspondence

Undertake research on a variety of topics and brief the Member both in writing and verbally

Develop and maintain knowledge of bills, Early Day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc

Manage the Members website, Facebook and social media activity

Manage local campaigns and projects

Provide support with the Members Parliamentary and Constituency diairies

Arrange Parliamentary tours and tickets for PMQs

Provide assistance to the Chief of Staff

The successful candidate should have:

Good organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload

Strong social media and communication skills, both written and oral

Personal initiative and a strong pro active work ethic

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
