We have a great opportunity for a Senior Policy Research Officer, who will play a key role within the UK Policy, Research and Advocacy team at British Red Cross.

About the role
The Senior Policy Research Officer will work within the Policy, Research and Advocacy (PRA) team, within the Communications and Advocacy directorate. The work of the PRA team covers our priority policy and advocacy areas closely linked to our operations in the U.K, including first aid, health and social care, and refugees and asylum. It is critical that our policy and advocacy work is underpinned by robust evidence base and our policy research component is critical to developing that.

As Senior Policy Research Officer, you will support the Policy Research Manager to manage the 'end to end' commissioning of research, ensuring all research has an external audience to support our ability to influence to effect policy and practice change in line with our advocacy priorities.

About the person
Educated to postgraduate level in one of the social or related sciences or equivalent qualification/experience, the successful candidate should have:

Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Experience of undertaking and managing high quality research, in a multi-disciplinary setting.
Experience in a commissioning role, drafting research briefs, sourcing external agencies and managing the relationships.
Experience of including service users / patients / beneficiaries in research.
Ability to carry out reviews of evidence and literature, to a high standard and within tight timescales.
Ability to provide disciplinary, methodological and substantive expertise and support to commissioned research projects.
Substantial experience of successfully managing a number of different projects at any given time.
Experience of using analysis software.
Knowledge of voluntary and statutory organisations.
