We are looking for an experienced and influential individual to join us as Senior Government Relations Adviser, to help build Save the Children’s profile, credibility and influence with political stakeholders, decision makers and opinion formers to achieve change for children.
As Senior Government Relations Adviser you will be responsible for identifying, pursuing and securing new strategic relationships for Save the Children, and for leading and shaping internal change-strategies. You will also provide flexible strategic capacity and political advice to senior staff across Save the Children to support risk management and relationships with key strategic funders. In addition, you will:
• Lead political influencing, and develop advocacy strategies, for Save the Children’s work on child survival and child protection.
• Provide strategic political insight and ensure systematic monitoring, analysis and dissemination of political intelligence.
• Maintain a strategic overview of global, multilateral and UK government, parliamentary and political party relations relevant to Save the Children’s work.
• Build relationships with senior parliamentaries, government ministers, government officials, and other key decision makers relevant to Save the Children’s global influencing work.

To be successful you will have significant operational experience of structures, processes and trends in the UK political system, the multilateral system, and a strong understanding of the foreign policy environment. A track record in achieving political change is essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team and motivate junior colleagues. In addition you will have:

• A passion for child survival and child protection around the world.
• A demonstrable ability to develop and deliver flexible and innovative lobbying strategies to achieve challenging advocacy asks
• A track record in delivering innovative political events
• A proven ability to rapidly analyse and master policy and research
• First rate communications skills with demonstrable excellence at verbal and oral communication, presentation and persuasion.
