Open Britain is recruiting for a Digital Officer to join our Digital Team. The right applicant will have an excellent knowledge of social media, experience of working with Adobe design packages and a good understanding of key issues in the Brexit debate. They will be a highly-motivated self-starter capable of hitting the ground running in a busy and fast-paced political campaign.

Applicants should have at least two years’ experience of writing content for the web and using a Content Management System (CMS). They should be highly organised and adaptable, with good writing skills. They will also work closely with our policy and media teams to develop new ideas for digital content.

The candidate will be up to speed with key Brexit-related developments but experience of working for a political party or campaign is a bonus, rather than a necessity. They must be sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Open Britain.

Reporting to the Head of Digital, the post-holder will produce digital content and website copy for public consumption, including, but not limited to:

  • Social media posts;
  • Videos;
  • Web design;
  • Graphic design;
  • Copywriting for online platforms (website, email, etc).

Main Responsibilities:

Digital content creation

  • Posting timely social media content in support of the campaign’s objectives.
  • Developing original videos, graphics and other shareable content.
  • Monitoring and promoting the Open Britain brand online.
  • Social, website and email campaigns
  • Regularly updating the Open Britain website to ensure the website reflects and delivers the campaign's goals.
  • Writing and editing copy for digital channels including website, email and social.

General

  • Providing support (digital or otherwise) at Open Britain events.
  • Out of hours work on occasion.

Experience and Skills Required

  • A commitment to the aims and principles of Open Britain.
  • Awareness of current issues surrounding the Brexit debate.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe design packages.
  • Basic understanding of content management systems.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Strong knowledge of social media and current digital trends.
  • Solid portfolio of past design projects.
  • Experience of supporting events.
  • Experience working with web analytical tools, such as Google Analytics.
  • Desirable: Experience using Facebook advertising and Google AdWords.
