As a member of the Science and Policy team you will contribute to IARD’s scientific capability by reading, processing, and analysing key data and scientific research.

You will:
• Analyse published academic studies and data
• Produce charts, graphs and other materials to support key IARD functions
• Compile, update and analyse data within IARD’s global databases
• Work collaboratively with other IARD staff members in Science and Policy, Communications, and Public Affairs to produce science-based tools and publications
• Monitor new research, trends, and developments in the alcohol field and write summaries and updates
• Represent the organization at meetings and conferences, as appropriate

Accountable to: Director of Policy Analysis and Senior Vice President of Science and Policy
• Producing analysis of peer-reviewed studies, analysing trends in key outcomes, and other global or regional developments as needed
• Collating evidence to support IARD’s broader work and strategy
• Identifying global trends and employing statistics and research results to build a deeper understanding of alcohol’s role in society and assessing the impact of policies and other interventions to reduce alcohol-related harm

Skills, knowledge and experience required
• A qualification in a scientific discipline, preferably in public health policy, health economics, or a related discipline
• An ability to distil complex information into clear messages
• Understanding of research methodology including study design, research instruments, statistical techniques (e.g. regression analysis), and interpretation.
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Clear communications skills both written and verbal
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
• International experience an asset
