Citizens UK is the home of community organising in the UK. We help communities act together for power, social justice and the common good. We have diverse civil society alliances in London, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham, Wales, Leeds and Tyne & Wear and through community organising develop the leadership capacity of our members so they can hold politicians and other decision-makers to account.

We are at an exciting phase in our growth, with 10 active city chapters and plans to expand to new towns and cities in 2018. Our work on the living wage campaign goes from strength to strength, with the Living Wage Foundation having now accredited over 3700 employers who pay a real Living Wage above the government minimum that meets the cost of living. We have also recently launched a new foundation for Community Sponsorship, building on our history of refugee advocacy work by creating a resettlement programme with the local community at its heart.

Other diverse issues we campaign on include housing, jobs, education, citizenship and hate crime.

The purpose of this role is to help Citizens UK, its chapters and member institutions effectively communicate their activity and community organising to the outside world via the media. This role will contribute by raising the profile of Citizens UK, communicating its strategic objectives through media outlets, website and internal communications channels.
