The Social Market Foundation is currently recruiting for a hard-working candidate with plenty of motivation and initiative to oversee the quality of outgoing SMF communications. This is a full time, paid position.

The successful candidate will work within the External Affairs function, and will have responsibility for ensuring the quality and accuracy of the SMF’s outgoing materials and communications, including reports, our website and social media.

Ideally the candidate will have experience of writing and editing public-facing materials from a previous position, paid or voluntary.

The intern will also support the wider external affairs team, undertaking a range of administrative tasks to facilitate the smooth running of the function, including supporting on the delivery of events.

The External Affairs Function at the SMF supports or manages the folowing:

• The running, in partnership with a range of partners and other organisations, of events on issues related to social and economic domestic policy.
• External communications to a range of key stakeholders – including our partner organisations; our mailing lists; MPs, politicians and policymakers; those accessing our website and other online forums; our Twitter page and Periscope (live-streaming) feed; our Board of Trustees and Policy Advisory Board; other organisations interested in social and economic policy in the UK, and event attendees.
• The management of existing, and development of new, partnerships for the organisation.
• The day-to-day activities of the office, including some office management responsibilities (dealing with general enquires)
