Job Details

Fixed Term (12 Months - Maternity Cover)

This is an exciting opportunity to join Macmillan’s new Policy, Campaigns and Influence (England) team, which has been set up in response to the growing number of decisions being made locally and regionally that impact on people affected by cancer.

Working closely with our regional teams and people living with cancer, you will develop and lead the delivery of Macmillan’s local influencing activity in our London and SE regions. As a new role, you will develop a local influencing strategy for each region that builds our profile and enables Macmillan to be a key player with local decision makers and elected politicians who can bring about change for people living with cancer. This will involve using your policy, campaigns and public affairs abilities.

You will have demonstrable experience of achieving change through influencing and a sound understanding of the levers for change in England – preferably including at a local level. Experience of developing and delivering proactive and reactive influencing activity, and an ability to develop effective relationships, are essential for this role.

You will also be a skilled communicator who can represent Macmillan effectively with key local stakeholders, and will have the ability to provide the London and SE regional teams with astute advice on how to interact with the local policy and political landscape. Whilst desirable, knowledge of the health system is not essential.

The Policy, Campaigns and Influence (England) team sits within Macmillan’s Policy, Campaigns and Influence division. The team exists to develop and deliver policy, campaigns and public affairs work at a local and regional level to affect change for people affected by cancer, and to feed into national influencing work by way of ensuring that this is informed by the experiences of our teams ‘on the ground’.

Please note, valid driving licence is desirable (but not essential).
