Interns are an invaluable part of our team and work across all areas, undertaking a range of tasks and responsibilities. The successful candidate for this role will work closely with the Programme team to plan and deliver our participants’ summer training programme, gaining broad experience in event planning and project management, as well as a specific insight into the training required to become an exceptional prison officer.

Key accountabilities

  • Planning and supporting the delivery of participant events, accommodation and catering
  • Negotiating and managing the relationship with suppliers, taking into account our charity status
  • Sourcing, preparing and distributing participant materials, and monitoring stock levels
  • Designing, quality assuring and disseminating participant policies
  • Researching, liaising with and managing high-profile speakers and guests
  • Creating and editing content for participant communications using technologies including Mailchimp and Salesforce
  • Other stakeholder communication via telephone and email
  • Supporting the project management of Summer Institute by planning and organising people and resources to ensure that it is delivered to a high standard within budget and scope
  • Supporting the administration of Unlocked Graduates’ work

Person specification

Candidates must be passionate about Unlocked’s mission and values, and be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Enthusiasm – our interns must be passionate about reducing reoffending and able to thrive in this fast moving policy environment.
  • Adaptability – our interns are asked to use their initiative, work across our teams and complete  wide variety of projects.
  • Excellent organisational skills – our interns need to be able to prioritise their workload and manage their time efficiently.
  • Attention to detail – our interns will need to complete both written and data-related tasks with precision, ensuring accuracy and coherence across all of their work.
  • Professionalism – our interns need to be able to represent Unlocked Graduates in a professional and appropriate manner in any situation.

Other requirements
Applicants must be willing to travel to and stay in Ipswich for up to four weeks (excluding weekends), split across two fortnights. All related travel and subsistence costs will be covered.
