UNA Exchange is a Cardiff-based international volunteering charity with ambitious plans for growth as we enter our 45th operational year. We are recruiting for a dynamic individual to join the team to deliver across our portfolio of short-term exchanges, including overseas group volunteering, independent volunteering abroad and domestic work camps. The post of Programme Officer (Exchanges) is offered initially on a five-month contract through until 31 October 2018 with potential for extension. This is a part-time position at 0.8 FTE.
Since 1973, UNA Exchange has facilitated international exchanges to and from Wales, empowering individuals to take part in a variety of voluntary service projects that develop communities, protect the historic and natural environments and promote inter-cultural understanding. Aimed predominately at young people aged 18–30, UNA Exchange provides opportunities ranging from two-week residentials through to fully-funded 12-month overseas placements.
The charity receives core funding from Welsh Government together with significant funding from the European Commission for delivery of Erasmus+ youth exchanges. Working in partnership with not-for-profit organisations worldwide, UNA Exchange is a member of the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations and the UNESCO-affiliated Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service. The key purpose of the role of Programme Officer (Exchanges) is to deliver short-term exchanges to and from Wales, supporting the personal and professional development of participants and beneficial outcomes for communities around the world. With direction from the UNA Exchange Programmes Manager, the post-holder will coordinate delivery of group volunteering, independent volunteering abroad and domestic work camps.
The successful candidate will be passionate about the beneficial outcomes of international volunteering to individual participants and the communities with which they volunteer.
