Southwark is an exciting and ambitious borough in the heart of London. We are looking for someone who can lead our small dynamic cabinet office team as they support cabinet members and senior officers to deliver a fairer future for all.

You will be a key figure in managing how the council gets things done. This role will give you a unique insight into how the council works, decisions are made and issues are tackled across the council’s leadership. This exciting and challenging role will work directly with cabinet members, and help ensure that their ambitions are understood and delivered by the council. As well as managing the team, you will provide direct support to some senior members of cabinet. No two days will be the same as you handle enquiries from the public, officers, key stakeholders and politicians – all of which you will do with your diplomatic, flexible and professional approach.

You will thrive in a complex and fast moving environment. To succeed in this role you will be adept at handling sensitive information and have a keen awareness of local government and the political context in which it operates. Comfortable working with a range of people you will be adaptable and pro-active in ensuring that the Cabinet Member has what they need to deliver for Southwark’s residents.
