The Policy Team at Prostate Cancer UK shapes the positions and policy calls that are critical to us achieving our 10 years to tame prostate cancer strategy. As part of the team you will be pivotal to making sure we pinpoint the health policy and practice changes that are vital to our strategic direction and that we’re equipped with the transformative policy solutions that will give men access to the best diagnosis, treatment and support. When new health policies emerge, the team quickly assesses their implications and is at the forefront of making sure they deliver the best outcomes for men living with or at risk of prostate cancer.

You will need to be up-to-date on policy developments, while identifying and shaping the influencing opportunities that can make change happen.

The team influences too, building partnerships and relationships with key external stakeholders critical to the delivery of the routes to influence it creates, across the UK. It regularly leads and participates in internal project teams focused on using evidence-led policies to achieve change by targeting relevant local, regional and national decision-makers, either directly or through men.

You understand the clinical world and the importance of developing policy positions underpinned by robust evidence. You’re also quick at pulling what’s important out of detailed and often complex information and can translate this into content for a range of audiences.

You can recognise the external health policies or practice changes that are critical to achieving strategic priorities and have experience contributing to organisation-wide positions on them. Where they impact negatively, you can help to shape constructive policy and practice solutions and have experience tactically influencing for their adoption – always making sure you put those you represent at the heart of all you do.

You’re aware of the health structures across the UK and know how new advances get to patients. You can identify key influencers, have negotiating and relationship-building skills and experience working with other teams and individuals both internally and externally.
